All of the islanders individually weigh exactly the same amount, except for one, who either weighs more or less than the other 11. You must use a see-saw to figure out whose weight is different, and you may only use the see-saw 3 times.

Alright, so my thought is take the 12 islanders, split them into groups of six, and put the two groups on opposite ends of the see-saw. Take the lighter side, split it in two again, and repeat. When you’re left with three, pick two and stick them on the see-saw. Either one of them will be lighter, or the third islander is your guy.
